Oh gods the pain.

Bryan Singer, Superman Returns had better be bloody brilliant for your jumping ship on this project.

Pfft.

Wasn't that bad at all - was fairly enjoyable.

I've generally found it's only the rabid fangirls that are disappointed or angry... does that make you a fangirl? ;)

I'm sorry, but there was so much about that film that was brain meltingly stupid (and yet despite this I want to go see it again):

Cyclop's exit
The complete lack of the Phoenix effect, or any sort of effects continuity from X2
Pretty much everything involved in the raid on Alcatraz

It was somewhat pointless. Partly due to the actor appearing in Superman at the same time for filming, I believe.

The point of removing him plot-wise, I suppose, was to emphasise how far she was falling, that she was beyond redemption.

Phoenix Effect

True, they didn't do the flames and red eyes thing... not sure why. It's a small thing, though, and didn't bug me much.

They did mention things in X2, yes, and went to the lake, but there didn't really seem to be much continuity from the revelations at the end of the film... well, other than there being a mutant affairs group with a mutant at the head. You know.

The Raid... aka LFG to Raid Alcatraz Isle! Need Mage, Priest and Tank!

I see why they did it - the need for action, the whole idea of a confrontation, etc - but I suppose that it was Mageneto's paranoia regarding a repeat of the Holocaust that drove him to openly attack.

That was my assumption, anyhow.

Oh and Superman Returns was VERY good, very faithful to the first two Donner products I thought.

Yeah, Iliked it. I thought Spcey was a good Hackmanesque Luthor, and that giving Superman a kid wasa bold move.
